The Dream: Reflections on the African- American Experience, from Kansas to Africa

Born a generation apart on the prairie lands of Kansas, both authors somehow found their way to Africa. While their situations and stories are different, much about these tales is the same. Shirle and Phillip are both dreamers. In Africa and in Kansas, each discovered a connection with their past, their history, and with God. Now, they’ve come together to share their amazing stories, with the hope that others might understand more about Africa from an African-American perspective. She experienced the first-hand horrors of violence and war, and the pain of being separated from those she loves most. He documents the African-American experience in Africa, exploring issues of identity-belonging and yet, somehow not belonging. This book illustrates that it is the faith that each bring that enables them to pull through the difficulties they both experienced so far from home. Without the power of God, none of us can stand. Thank God for dreams.

Growing Up Pratt

A moving memoir about a black kid's experience of growing up in Pratt Kansas. Under the care and support of close friends, family, and church period. These experiences helped shape his life and provided a foundation for his future success as a son, brother, father, doctor, and a kid proud to have grown up in a small loving environment period. I owe my character, love of God and love of life to growing up in Pratt, Kansas. The environmental area encompasses 7.5 square miles. The current population of Pratt is around 7,500, but I am certain in the mid-60’s to the mid-70’s the population hovered around 5,000. Despite its large size it is difficult to fathom what beautiful people and experiences I encountered as a Pratt kid. There were the lovely snowfalls during the winter, my short walk from…

Confirmation From My Father

Confirmation From My Father is a book exemplifying three key needs in our lives; those are faith, patience, and hope. The relationship that the author has with Jesus Christ along with several other testimonies written in this book, will provide the reader with living testimonies, struggles, and the victories God has placed in their lives. Confirmation for my father will give individuals the confidence they need to open up their hearts and move forward in a growing relationship with their creator and the Lord Jesus Christ. Confirmation from my father is all about establishing and trusting in relationships; not only with our savior but with our friends and family. We are part of a moving document called the Bible, and we are living in prophetic times described by prophets many generations ago which is a road map of our past and future. The victories as well as the struggles in life are all part of God’s supernatural plan for his glory and our success as believers.

Rebounding For Christ: The story of one of Oklahoma's first All-State Basketball Stars

Travis Finley is one of many strong African-American men who found an outlet to help him persevere through a tumultuous period of societal unrest and uncertainties. Today, it is not uncommon for thousands of young black men and women to pursue scholarships through sports as a way to obtain a higher education; during the 1950's and 1960's, it was hope, skill, perseverance, and love of the game which propelled many black men to the spotlight. As told in this story, even that wasn't a guarantee for a successful career in athletics. My father worked hard at becoming an athlete and well respected gentleman in the community. I would like to say that I am one of four sons who decided to take a stab at looking into the eyes of a child, athlete, son, father, husband, grandfather, city councilman, and preacher. This is my story of my father out of the love and support of my family, friends, and those close to my father. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. 2 Corinthians 12th Chapter 9-10
